Day 2: Yer a Wizard, Grey
If you’ve been in the Philly area for the last 5ish years, you have probably had one of your friends tell you about the Harry Potter festival in Chestnut Hill. It was one of my favorite things to do every October, but the last year or two I skipped it because Warner Brothers was up in arms about the fact that a town was using one of their licenses without paying for it. I didn’t think it would be the same. They always kick off the weekend with a pub crawl on Friday night, and Saturday there was a Brotherly Love Quidditch tournament and a festival down Germantown Ave. The two days would be full of people dressed as their favorite Harry Potter characters and vendors selling butterbeer, handmade wands, and fun wizard-themed trinkets and gifts. The street would shut down, and you could rub elbows with Voldemort himself while enjoying a Iron Hill beer labeled something about Death Eaters. It was one of the coolest festivals I’ve ever been to.
This year I wanted to give it another shot and take Grey to take part in a festival that was family friendly and themed around my favorite books. While I have a couple different HP options for her to put on (spoiler alert: they may show up later in this countdown), I chose to keep it simple with her Hogwarts uniform and pet Hedwig because I wasn’t sure how warm or cold it would end up being. Plus it’s way less to fuss with when she’s wearing it in the car and walking around town with me.

If you’re interested in her outfit, you can get the jumper and tights and Primark, and the robe was from Amazon here. Unfortunately, Primark doesn’t carry most of it’s assortment online but I’m sure they have it at the closest store to you. It came in a few different colors and came with tights and the shirt underneath!

I was a little mad when I got this robe in because it was pictured with the Hogwarts crest on the chest. I received it and it was basically a snuggie for babies – a very overpriced snuggie for babies. I didn’t have the time to return it and order a new one so I figured I’d try to make it work. It was super warm if you’re looking for something to take your little one outside in while their siblings trick-or-treat, but you’d be better off making it yourself for less money.
